The Squeeze Inn moves, but not far

The Squeeze Inn, one of the first and most popular restaurants featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, found itself facing a Federal lawsuit last summer over questions surrounding their ability to meet ADA guidelines.

Although the lawsuit was dropped, The Squeeze Inn location in Sacramento is moving to a nearby, and larger, building.

Their last day in the old location will be Saturday, February 6, 2010. As recently as this past November, Guy Fieri gave the Squeeze Inn a shout-out on The Jay Leno Show for making one of his favorite burgers.

Jay: Who serves the best hamburger in America?

Guy: Not going to get anybody mad here, I hope. I think it's got to be one of two places. Hodad's in San Diego, or the Squeeze Inn in Sacramento. But it's a Cali-based thing.

The Squeeze Inn was featured in the Burgers episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, Season 1.

MegsMakeUp was there for a burger, recently. She wrote,
"For those of you who live in a cave in Sac town (and those of you who just plain don't live here) we have a small but infamous burger joint known as the "Squeeze Inn". For over 30 years now residents near and far have been making the trek to this tiny little haven of burger perfection to "squeeze in" to one of their 12... you heard me... 12 stools that line the counter of this itty-bitty-booty-committee eatery. Big or little booty... that's all the real estate you get to belly up to the best burger around."
And continued,
"There is was before me... a 1/3 pound all beef patty covered in just about as much cheese melted and fried to a crispy cheese ring (or cheese skirt as they call it) all around my burger! I had to break off sheets of the cheese, fold them in half and eat like a quesadilla with no tortilla just to get to my burger. Then the BURGER! Oh good LORD the burger. It couldn't get any better than this."
She finishes her post with an inspiring story of a few young people at the restaurant giving up their coveted seats to members of the military. It's a nice read. Click here to check it out.

The Squeeze Inn will keep everyone up-to-date on the move via twitter.com/thesqueezeinn and on their website.
