TV Food Maps (guest blog)

I've been tracking fan sites of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives for a few years now. Not only are the sites based solely on Guy Fieri's Food Network show, but due to the increase of like-minded programming, websites and cell phone apps are being created to track all the food travel shows. Frank of TVFoodMaps.com recently wrote to me about what he and his team are doing. In his own words...

------------------------------------------------

I recently created a website called TVFoodMaps (http://www.tvfoodmaps.com). The site is for people who love food, eating, travel and most importantly food tv shows. We make it easy for people to find the restaurants visited on shows like Diners, DriveIns & Dives, Man v. Food and many others. We also have a Road Trip search feature that lets you find places along your next road trip or drive.

The site was built by two friends/programmers who both love watching and traveling to the places they see on shows like DDD, Man vs. Food and just about any other show on Food Network and Travel Channel. While we found a number of great fan sites for individual shows we hadn't come across a single site that would act as a "hub" for all of these shows.

The goal of TVFoodMaps.com was to provide a single site that would allow users to find the places they saw on TV when they are traveling to or through different places. We currently have a robust search feature that allows you to search by show, cuisine or cost. We also have a Road Trip search feature which allows user's to search for places along the route they are taking. In the future we plan on adding a number of additional features such as tracking of places you've been / want to go, comments and linking to featured blogs (to provide more detailed content about the restaurants).

We plan on adding a feature where blogs who post about a specific restaurant or episode would be featured on our pages for that restaurant with a short blurb (intro to blog entry) and a "see more" link to your site, with a backlink of the blog entry, "As Seen on TVFoodMaps."

Guy Fieri talks on radio about "Tailgate Warriors"

Guy Fieri has been doing the radio rounds in support of the Food Network's 4-part series, "Tailgate Warriors," with new episodes airing on Wednesdays at 10:00 PM ET/PT and repeats on Fridays at 11:00 PM ET/PT and Saturdays at 4:00 PM ET/PT.

Guy Fieri talks "Tailgate Warriors" with Kallaway on the Rise on 95.5 WIFC, Friday, October 22, 2010.

They talk about the fact that Green Bay fans will tailgate no matter what the weather; 24 below doesn't hold 'em back. "Tailgating is hot," Guy Fieri said. "The kitchen is not just defined by the four walls inside of a house." Click here to listen.

Guy Fieri was visiting his restaurants in Sacramento and checked in with Pat and Tom on 105.1 KNCI radio.

A brief, casual chat, Guy Fieri talked about Minute to Win It, a life-changing show, not just a game show. Guy also took on a challenge to talk for 30 sections without using "uh" or "um," and can't pause for more than a second and a half. He talked about Jamie's Broadway Grill in Sacramento. Click here to listen.

And www.mynorthwest.com scored an interview with Guy Fieri about his visit to Qwest Field to shoot "Tailgate Warriors."

Guy says tailgate cuisine has become very complicated. "We have people who are taking the family RV, and chopping holes in it, putting in big roll up doors, and $5000 barbecues sliding out of it."

M2WI on Wii, "Tailgate Warriors" premiere, interviews and People's Choice

Screen shots of the new Minute to Win It video game have been released. We've been following the development of the game for several months.

On 7/19/10 Mathew Trogner wrote, "Another killer session with Guy Fieri at Zone Recording (Sonoma County, CA) today. We recorded all of Guy's phrases for the upcoming Wii game based on his hit television show, Minute to Win It on NBC."

Video game publisher Zoo Entertainment, Inc (NASDAQ: ZOOG) announced that Minute to Win It, based on NBC’s hit game show sensation, will be available in November 2010 for the Nintendo WiiTM and DS systems. Led by All-American chef and TV personality Guy Fieri, who provides voiceovers for the title, players will tackle unique challenges and compete to win the (virtual) grand prize of $1,000,000. Minute to Win It is licensed through NBC Universal Television Consumer Products Group.

Craig Plestis, Executive Producer of Minute to Win It said, "This show has not only caught on across America but has been voted ‘The Best Game Show in the World’ in Cannes. We are looking forward to this Wii game becoming a hit in America, as well as around the world."

Players compete in a series of simple, yet nerve-wracking 60-second challenges with household objects for a shot to win each round. As the money increases, so does the level of difficulty, with 36 fun and exciting challenges randomly selected to create each 10-round battle. The Wii version is compatible with the Wii Balance Board.

Minute to Win It has open casting calls in Norman OK, Columbus OH, Santa Maria CA and Philadelphia, PA in October, 2010. Click here for more information.

The new, 4-part series, Tailgate Warriors, premiered this week. Listen Guy Fieri on WIFC 95.5, located in Wausau, WI, at 8:30 AM local time on Friday, October 10, 2010.

"TAILGATE WARRIORS WITH GUY FIERI": Tailgating becomes the main event with the kick-off of this special four-episode series on Food Network. Guy Fieri throws down the gauntlet to two tailgating teams in search of the best grub at the game. Shot on-location at NFL stadiums around the country, the competitors represent their hometown football team and will create two appetizers, one entrée, two sides and one dessert. Teams will be judged by a rotating three-person panel and scored on taste, creativity, difficulty and presentation.

"Tailgate Warriors" will culminate in a championship battle airing in January, 2011. Click here to listen live.
