Guy's Big Bite - Backyard Bites: Chorizo Polenta Casserole - Air date: 11/6/11
Guy Fieri brings a tiny sous chef into the kitchen for some delicious fun. They get elbow-deep in dough for their Stromboli with Marinara sauce, and veggies get a fun factor boost as they make their own Crispy Kale Chips with Lemon. For dessert, Salted Caramel Milkshakes are pure childhood indulgence.
[Yes, these "Backyard Bites" episodes are actually taped in Guy Fieri's backyard. ~D]

Guy Fieri: on college students, GM cars and hockey!
Colleges.com U Magazine interviewed Guy Fieri recently for a cover story. Guy shares his life's journey, and offers advice for students.
Click here to read; Guy's interview begins on page 18. A few of Guy's quotes from the article:
"I was never pushed to do anything, encouraged to do everything."
"Anything is SO possible in today's day and age. I see success story after success story. Things aren't just going to fall into your lap. You've got to go out there and get it."
"Look to people you admire or that intrest you. Look to your teachers, your community and businesses. Find people you want to be like and ask them to help you. Say to them, 'Mentor me. Give me a shot. Help me out. Send me a direction.'"

"The Faces of GM" recently ran a story on Guy Fieri, The Chef and his Chevy's, catching up with him at the Woodward Dream Cruise in metro-Detroit this past August.
They wrote, "It’s clear that Guy is passionate about two things – cooking and cars. In fact, he’s seen with his 1967 red Camaro in just about every episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network. He had the red Camaro with him, along with a yellow 2011 Camaro SS, at the 555 Triangle in Birmingham this August – and even has eight more GM cars at home!"
GM also asked Guy how he developed this passion for the bowtie brand, and he said, "Chevy’s always led the way. The way it looks, the way it all ties together. Chevy’s always just been the coolest."

The Simpsons to spoof FoodTV
Looks like Guy Fieri is joining the ranks of Wolfgang Puck, Gordon Ramsay, Colonel Sanders and the Swedish Chef in an upcoming episode of "The Simpsons." www.tvline.com shared this sneak peek look at "The Food Wife," due to air on Fox November 13, 2011.

In the episode, Marge Simpson starts blogging about Homer's favorite food with Bart and Lisa — "the blue-haired matriarch is the one whose flight of fancy features the guest voices (and yellowed faces) of Mario Batali, Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramsay (among others)."

Fan questions, October 2011
I've added a new page to this blog, Have a Question? At the end of each month, I'll share what fans are asking and what answers I could find for them. [Some answers are edited for brevity. ~D]
Angelan from Vero Beach asked, "Why does Guy not eat fried eggs??? Thanks"
Our answer: Guy isn't fond of eggs. He'll use them as an ingredient, but not as a dish by itself. He also doesn't care for chocolate! And says "no way" to liver. :)
---------------------------------------
Jeanie of Freeport asked, "I would like to know where Guy got the giant IPOD on his wall and are they available to purchase?"
Our answer: It's called a Virtuo Smartjuke, by Touchtunes. But they don’t sell to private consumers; their product is for places that play music such bars, clubs, etc.
---------------------------------------
Gaylen of Minneapolis wrote, "Near the end of one of your recent shows, you filmed a strange looking dog staring through a window. I never laughed so hard! Love your sense of humor. Please let me know the name of the episode."
Our answer: Well shoot! I must have missed that one. But you're right, Page Productions did enjoy slipping a little humorous anecdote into the last moments of the show. Always fun. Maybe another reader remembers the episode? Please comment!
---------------------------------------
Mark wondered, "how to get up with somebody who is in charge about the bbq sauce had problem with it and want to report it"
Our answer: I'd definitely start with the store management where you bought it. The BBQ sauces and salsas are produced by Gia Russa. If you have questions regarding ingredients, finding a product locally or packaging, contact them by phone at (800) 527-8772.
---------------------------------------
Hillary from San Antonio wrote, "Why does Guy not wear a wedding ring in the shows from 2011? My husband and I both look for it on every show he does and in 2007 on DDD he is wearing a ring then on shows form 2011 DDD he does not? Also in his normale cooking show he is not wearing a ring?"
Our answer: If it's the ring I think you're referring to, it is not a wedding ring. It's a college graduation ring that Guy bought for himself while still living in Las Vegas. Sometimes he wore it on his left hand 3rd finger, sometimes not.
---------------------------------------
Abbey from Houston asked, "How do I sign-up for tailgate warriors? I have a father daughter team that really wants to be on the show!"
Our answer: Tailgate Warriors was produced by Page Productions. Due to the recent fallout between them and Guy Fieri, that show is not currently in production. If it is ever picked up by another production company, we'll sure post about it!
